While it is certainly impressive songwriting, I didn't connect.

The didn't really drag me in, until the last minute when everything combined together into an impenetrable wall of sound. While the rest of the song was very noisy, as everything seemed to be blocked out by the main pad.

Yes, wall of noise is usually a good thing btw, 'cause to me, its about blending instruments together into something that grabs your attention, but doesn't allow you to focus on any one thing.

Any critique is a good one. Some cases I'm not following you on your review. A wall of noise is good from time to time but very hard to convey a single melodic message.

A wall of noise to me is enjoyable to listen to but it is not as thought provoking. Only in the manner of how the hell did they make that. I like to convey a melodic emotional message. If I didn't connect then I didn't do it right and I guess will try harder next time. I hope over time I will be able to create a "wall of noise" that is emotional and complex at the same time.

Thanks for the honest review.

What can I say? I've always loved your work, its a nice folk face to a electronic portal, and you actually pull it off without cheesy samples or overused VSTis.

The simplistic intro with the tribal drums were introduction, followed by the plucking of a sitar(?) built up some suspense, at least on my end.

I'm always a little picky when it comes to progression, but you always seem to pull 'em off seamlessly. Honestly, it took me a few listens to notice how the entire ensemble came together, seemingly at once, but not. I don't know, shit, just good job.

When the entire Arabian orchestra kicks in, it creates an entrancing wall of sound. Which is a good thing! It makes it really hard to focus on any one thing, which I also think is a good thing.

This one is really hard to review, 'cause I'm not quite sure if its perfection or not. If not, then its pretty damn close.

Very nice! High five!

Its some nice chill trip hop? I guess? I liked the main flangy pad that drove the loop and the 808 -esque drums. The only two faults I found was a background pad that didn't stick too well - but didn't stick out much either.

The other, it didn't loop 'perfectly', but good enough.

It didn't start off on a good note with me, the odd beepish synths blocking out what sounded like a nice chill pad & percussion duo.

Then the break, was kinda of dragged out. But luckily the burst back was pretty awesome, getting straight into the piercing trancy synth.

But my problem there was that it was a bit ill-mixed. The trancy synth, while it obviously took center stage, seemed to block out everything else. I was really tiring my ears trying to hear some percussion and background pads.

Then the breakdown really got me, I mean the percussion was simple and flowed well with the smooth synth.

And right back into the main piercy riff. It transitioned well, although the mixing could've been done a little better. All the levels seem to lower abruptly.

The ending left much to be desired as it seemed to just suddenly end in the middle of the riff.

Overall, solid track that needs a teensy bit done to the mixing. 4/5

Haha, I remember this last summer. When the AF was all anti-Gabber, and OCON got his account deleted. Good times.

Actually wasn't HORRIBLE.

Great stuff!

Great contemporary music we have here.

Almost like a pop song, hip hop-ish drums carry the song with a melody that isn't overly simple nor complex.

4/5

Very, very nice track.

Honestly, I don't know much about IDM. So I really can't give much opinion on that, but I will say that this is a very solid & enjoyable track.

It sounds like a mix on Ambient, Drum 'N Bass, and Glitch, so I guess if thats what you were for, right on?

Holy shit new reviews after all this time xD

Well IDM is hard to define and there's even dispute over it. Whatever feels funny in the brain ^^
It's closely related to all three though.

Score!

Very nice track here! Its nice to see a trance song around here thats not like 180 BPM. Almost a pop song, very mellow and soothing contemporary music. I really liked the mixing, the synths were quiet but not blocked out by the drums which remained simple and pleasant.

Really my only complaints would be the drum samples were pretty presetish and dull, and that the song seemed to end kind of abruptly.

Very nice work. 4/5

Thanks for the review!

Preset-ish and dull, eh? Well, it wasn't supposed to be really flashy, and I thought they fit the song. Whatever... Yeah, about the ending... I'm not good with those at all!

Thanks man! :)

Merry Motherfuckin'.....Easter? I guess?

You've got some great pop-punk and corporate-ish punk tunes. But preconceived fan boy bias aside....

The entry was great, the simple bassline was crazy catchy as it progressed into that infectious lead. I don't know why, but the rhythm guitar really grabbed me.

The drums were very well programmed. Sure its punk rock so IT MUST be linear but it seemed to be tracked so well, the verse to pre-breakdown(?)/chorus got me in the boat.

As for mixing, it twas great. The lead was put forth but didn't block out the other instruments, the bass is always audible, the drums weren't blocked out by all the noise but weren't over-bearing, and the rhythm guitar sits to the side a bit and blends well with the lead.

But maybe I made this review a little too pretentious, but can 'ya blame me? I just bought a copy of Alternative Press.

Again with the ew MIDI synth

With some compression on the cymbal and a different lead-synth, it would be perfect.

WritersBlock responds:

eeeeewwwwwwwwwww!!!!
Yes, I made some bad choices of synths, what was I thinking?!
Thanks for the review.
